The southern state of Santa Catarina is one of the richest in Brazil. The state also has the second highest Human Development Index score in Brazil1. The HDI index measures education, GDP per capita and standard of living, and is primarily used to judge the level of a country’s development. The high level of employment and affluence of the state are major pull factors for Brazilian workers who choose to relocate here in search of a better quality of life. 45 minutes to the south of Camboriú is the state capital and political centre of Florianópolis, a 1-hour flight from the international airport at São Paolo and a popular holiday destination in its own right.
