Airport set to boost Turkish property market

The Turkish tourist market is set to receive a boost from the reopening of an international airport.

According to the Dogan News Agency, the portal in the city of Sinop will be made operational again in 2008 after being closed for five years.

Authorities believe that this will increase the number of visitors coming to the region, which could result in new opportunities for overseas property investors being created.

Zeki Sanal, governor of Sinop, stated that the reopening of the airport would significantly enhance transport to and from the city, resulting in tangible financial benefits.

He commented: "Industrialisation and economic development are some of the projects that we attach great importance to."

Mr Sanal added that the opening of the airport, which will follow major renovation work, was "very important" for Sinop.

This comes after Turkey was recommended as a good option for overseas property investors by the Sun, partly due to its popularity among holidaymakers.
