Airports prepare for Easter rush
Airports across the UK are preparing themselves for a surge in the number of air passengers this weekend.
Millions of Britons are expected to fly abroad for the Easter Bank Holiday period, with more than 600,000 passing through Gatwick alone.
The airport has revealed that destinations in mainland Europe such as Spain and Portugal are proving to be especially popular.
Gatwick highlighted Alicante, Malaga, Madrid and Barcelona as hotspots for British holidaymakers this weekend.
The transport hub added that Faro in Portugal also looks set to attract a significant number of people from the UK over the next few days.
Meanwhile, the Southern Daily Echo has reported that Southampton International Airport is preparing for a record-breaking Easter this year.
More than 31,000 air passengers are expected to pass through its gates and fly abroad for the Bank Holiday weekend.
