Alanya airport 'could boost tourism'

It is hoped that the outcome of plans to build a new airport in Turkey will reach a conclusion once a new government is put in place, according to reports.

President of Aydogan, Kerim Aydogan, has planned to develop a new venue in order to boost transport accessibility to the town of Alanya and overall infrastructure, reports the Turkish Daily News.

He stated that such a link could aid the tourism possibilities of the area, something which may be welcomed by potential property investors.

At the moment, the nearest airport is 2 hours away, he stated.

"This reduces the tourism potential of Alanya. For those who have bought property in the town an airport nearby would make life much easier," he told the paper.

Planning permission to build the airport was given to the ministry of transport and the official wants to invest 200 million euros (£134 million) in the project, the paper stated.

In other news, a poll in the Vatan newspaper recently stated that the majority of people in Turkey want a new president to be elected directly by the people.
