Albania courts foreign investors
Albania's government is attempting to encourage foreign investors to do business in the country.
According to BalkanInsight.com, it is hoped that investment from overseas will help drive further growth in the economy.
Several cabinet ministers are currently on a visit to Japan in order to attract potential investors to consider the Albanian market.
The delegation, headed up by prime minister Sali Berisha, are being received by Japanese Emperor Akihito.
Commenting on the trip, the office of the prime minister said: "The visit is intended to woo Japanese investors to various areas of Albania's economy."
The government officials will also meet with prominent Japanese politicians, including prime minister Yasuo Fukuda and parliamentary speaker Yohei Kono.
If the delegation is successful in attracting further investment from abroad, this will be a positive development for Albania's economy, especially as it may have various knock-on effects.
For example, economic growth may encourage overseas property investors to consider the market.
Albania was recently recommended by the Foreign Property Buyer website, which praised its scenery, good weather and political stability.
