BA announces new Turkish flights

British Airways has announced that it is to launch new services between the UK and Turkey.

The carrier will offer three flights to the city of Antalya from Gatwick Airport each week, starting from April next year.

This will be in time for people to book the flights to visit Turkey for their summer holidays, as it is growing in stature as a tourist destination.

Robert Boyle, commercial director at British Airways, commented: "Antalya is in south-west Turkey and is an increasingly popular leisure destination with new tourism facilities being developed."

The new flights and the likely increase in visitor numbers is also likely to be a positive development for overseas property investors in the region.

This comes after Today's Zaman highlighted the popularity of investing in property in Antalya.

According to the publication, 23% of real estate in the area is owned by foreign nationals, a figure which is likely to increase after the new flights are launched.
