Brazil aims to attract Chinese

The Brazilian government is aiming to broaden the appeal of the country in order to attract more visitors, a media outlet has revealed.

According to the Xinhua news agency, authorities in the South American nation want to tap into foreign consumer bases in places such as China.

This has led to the government revamping its marketing strategy in a bid to highlight the parts of Brazil that may appeal most strongly to Chinese citizens.

Tourism minister Marta Suplicy commented: "We carried out a poll and found that there is not a search for beaches and sun, like throughout Europe, but rather for natural beauty."

As a result, promotional material that will be specifically aimed at the Chinese market is now being prepared.

The campaign will focus on attractions such as interesting flora and fauna and various rural parts of Brazil.

This is likely to enhance the appeal of the country among overseas property investors, as extra tourism could create more demand for rental accommodation in major tourist areas.

Brazil was recently flagged up as a popular investment market by Foreign Property Buyer, which said that growth in the country's housing market would enable investors to sell their residence on at a good price.
