Brazil recommended to foreign property buyers

Overseas property investors have been encouraged to consider purchasing a residence in Brazil.

The South American country was highlighted by the Press and Journal as a possible option for second home buyers partly because of its association with the James Bond films.

Indeed, the 1979 film Moonraker famously showcased Rio de Janeiro during a fight on a cable car involving Roger Moore's 007 and Jaws.

According to the Press and Journal, Rio is particularly popular with holidaymakers, giving it a strong rental sector.

However, the newspaper also pointed out that since it is still considered to be a developing market, property values are relatively low.

"Bargains can be easily found, with two-bedroom houses in the region of £40,000," the Press and Journal commented.

The publication added that coastal properties are particularly popular with overseas property buyers, as they offer the best potential for collecting strong rental yields.
