Brazil to host 2014 World Cup

Brazil has been confirmed as the host country for the football World Cup in 2014

The South American country will be likely to experience numerous benefits as a result, such as a boost to its tourist market and economy.

Speaking to Reuters, former Brazil international Antonio Lopes commented: "I think this is going to help not only football but will help the country as a whole.

"Brazil will benefit financially and economically," he added.

The resulting demand for rental accommodation in the country may prove to be highly lucrative for property investors in the market and possibly result in a long-term surge in visitor numbers.

Furthermore, infrastructure improvements that will take place throughout the country as it prepares for the event will be likely to make some areas more desirable, potentially having a knock-on effect on property prices.

According to Amberlamb, Brazil is rapidly growing in popularity as a market for overseas investors, partly as a result of the potential for capital growth.
