Brazilian authorities prepare for World Cup

Authorities in Brazil are planning to visit China in order to prepare for the 2014 World Cup, it has been revealed.

MacauHub reports that a delegation from the tourism ministry will go to the country to assess how it is managing and preparing for this year's Olympic Games, which are being hosted in Beijing.

It is hoped that the Brazilian government will benefit from China's experience in handling a major sporting event and publicising it across the world.

Marta Suplicy, Brazil's tourism minister, commented: "We have a lot to learn from China, with all the facilities built for the 2008 Olympics."

She added that the delegation would also use the trip as an opportunity to promote Brazil to Chinese consumers.

According to official data, 37,000 people from China visited the South American country in 2006 - up from 18,000 in the previous year.

This comes after the Foreign Property Buyer website recommended Brazil to potential investors in rental accommodation.
