British buyers head to France

Property buyers from the UK are continuing to invest in the French housing market, it has been revealed.

According to John Howell of the International Law Partnership, the European country is proving to be very popular with lifestyle buyers in particular.

Speaking to the Telegraph, he said groups such as retirees have become especially keen to buy in France in order to live there on a permanent basis.

"Baby-boomers coming up to retirement are drawn to France as it is the safest country to buy," he commented.

Mr Howell added that the country has also become an appealing option as it offers attractions such as excellent healthcare provision, regulated agents and an established legal framework.

This comes after Stanley Tee LLP Solicitors stated that it is relatively easy to obtain a mortgage in France at a competitive interest rate.

The company added that its culture, good climate and cuisine are also helping to attract lifestyle buyers from overseas.
