British buyers 'snapping up Portuguese property'
Portugal is still one of the most popular destinations among British property buyers, according to experts.
Country Life magazine stated that the European country was an appealing destination to people in the UK as it offered a number of positive attributes.
For example, the publication highlighted its good climate, as well as its relaxed lifestyle and distinctive identity.
These features were said to have helped make it highly attractive to British property buyers, as well as expatriates.
Country Life commented: "Portugal has certainly been in the top five since those emigrating discovered the joys of one of the longest seasons in the Mediterranean."
The publication added that more than 38,000 Britons now lived in the country permanently, while 11,000 have holiday homes there.
Portugal could be set to attract more foreign interest as a result of the launch of a new website.
Earlier this week, the country's tourist office launched an online travel guide in collaboration with its Spanish counterpart, in order to encourage holidaymakers to visit both parts of the Iberian Peninsula.
