British expat praises move overseas

A British expatriate has spoken positively of his decision to move abroad and set up home in Spain.

Eric Warren moved from Leeds to the Costa Blanca in 2001 and now spends most of his time in the area, enjoying sunny weather even in winter.

Speaking to BBC News, he praised the country for offering a "fantastic" climate and described his new lifestyle as "brilliant".

Mr Warren said he and his wife relocated for a temporary period at first before choosing to buy a house and live in Spain permanently.

He commented: "We came over at first for a six-month stint - but within three weeks we'd bought a house and we set up home."

This follows a study by NatWest which found that achieving a better lifestyle had been the main motivation for 37% of British expatriates.

Figures also showed that 92% of respondents believed their quality of life had improved since they left the country.
