Britons 'consider moving overseas'

A growing number of Britons are considering setting up home overseas, new research has found.

Foreign exchange specialist Moneycorp revealed that almost half of the UK population believes that January is the most depressing month of the year.

According to the firm, the sense of seasonal anxiety and disillusionment is so strong that 40% of Britons are thinking of leaving the country altogether in search of a better life abroad.

A number of reasons for this were highlighted, including the economic and political state of the UK, along with the performance of public services.

The weather was also found to be a major issue among Britons, as the cold and wet winter is having a negative effect on people's moods.

By contrast, the survey found that nine in ten respondents are being tempted to move abroad by the prospect of a better climate.

A recent study of expatriates by private healthcare provider BUPA found that more than two-thirds believed their way of life had improved since moving abroad.
