Britons' holiday spending increasing rental yield
Britons are spending more than twice as much on holidays as they did six years ago, a study has shown.
A survey into holiday spending by InsureandGo shows that the average family will now spend £1,076.40 on holidays - a substantial portion of which will be spent on accommodation.
The study has shown that the amount of money being spent on holidays is rising by 8.92% each year - 52.6% since 2001.
Perry Wilson of InsureandGo claimed that "holidays are as popular as ever, and as a nation we take well over 60 million trips abroad a year".
The majority of Britons are still opting for traditional holiday favourites like Spain and Portugal, although there will be plenty of British pounds going beyond Iberia. Over a million UK visitors make the trip to Florida each year and to the east, Croatia and Bulgaria are fast growing in popularity.
Targeting popular holiday destinations could yield substantial investment returns as people become more willing to pay high rents when on holiday.
