Britons seek better lifestyle overseas

Many people are leaving the UK in order to improve their quality of life, according to new research.

A study by NatWest found that achieving a better lifestyle had been the main motivation for 37% of British expatriates.

Figures showed that 92% of respondents believed their quality of life had improved since they left the country.

Furthermore, a similar proportion said they were now financially better off, since they were enjoying a lower cost of living overseas.

Commenting on the findings, Dave Isley of NatWest observed: "It is interesting to note for those considering the move to wider shores that the grass can indeed be greener on the other side."

He added that the number of people choosing to set up home overseas was likely to increase during the next few years.

According to currency specialists HiFX, the number of UK citizens looking to emigrate has gone up by 22% in the last 12 months.
