Britons to spend Easter holiday overseas

Many Britons are likely to head overseas during the forthcoming Easter break, according to one travel firm.

Thomas Cook said that destinations in mainland Europe were likely to attract a large number of leisure travellers next month, particularly cities such as Paris.

The French capital was tipped to be a popular location because of recent accessibility improvements, such as the launch of a new high-speed rail link from St Pancras in London.

Eurostar's service, which was launched in November 2007, allows passengers to travel from one city to the other in just two hours and 15 minutes.

A spokesperson for Thomas Cook commented: "Paris is a key choice especially with Eurostar's recent move to St Pancras making it more accessible throughout the UK."

This comes after Irish airline Aer Lingus announced that it will begin operating a new route between Belfast and Paris next month.
