Britons 'travelling to long-haul destinations'

Long-haul destinations are proving to be highly popular with British travellers, according to new research.

A study by Travelmole and BGB stated that countries that are further afield were the best sellers for outbound tour operators this year.

Meanwhile, the study also showed that the majority of tour operators saw a rise in turnover this year, with almost three-quarters seeing increases on 2006.

This led to optimism for future prospects, with many predicting this trend to continue into 2008.

Researchers at Travelmole described the mood of tour operators in the UK as "bullish", as they had remained positive in the face of other problems, such as increased security on airlines.

The figures highlight the continuing appeal of foreign travel to Britons, as well as the emerging popularity of long-haul destinations.

According to independent analysts at Amberlamb, many holidaymakers are choosing to visit Brazil, leading some to consider it a viable location for a property investment.
