Britons 'want exotic holidays'

Britons are increasingly choosing to travel to more exotic locations for their holidays, experts have stated.

Online travel agency Freedom Direct said that a growing number of tourists from the UK wanted to combine a beach holiday with the chance to experience a new culture.

As a result, countries such as Morocco and Turkey were said to have significantly increased in popularity, potentially creating opportunities for overseas property investors in these markets.

Nick Jackson, spokesperson for Freedom Direct, commented: "They offer a very different cultural setting to the popular European holiday destinations and unique history which has left them with many exotic historical sites to visit."

He added that people wanted to make the most of their time away and enjoy a range of activities including sightseeing, experiencing the culture and relaxing on a beach.

According to Travel and Tourism News, approximately 6.5 million people took a holiday in Morocco during 2006.
