Britons 'will not sacrifice trips abroad'
Consumers from the UK are not willing to sacrifice their holidays, despite growing financial pressure.
According to the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO), travelling abroad is no longer seen as an unnecessary indulgence.
The organisation stated that since people are facing pressures such as longer working hours and rising living costs, they are prepared to take a holiday "come hell or high water".
This is despite the increased financial constraints that have come about as a result of global economic problems such as the credit crunch.
A spokesperson for the AITO commented: "People are working very hard these days and they see a nice holiday as a necessity rather than a luxury."
However, he stated that some people may be prepared to compromise on the number of holidays they take every year.
This comes after Kayak.co.uk stated that growing economic uncertainty is not stopping consumers from booking trips abroad.
Tourists stated that instead of depriving themselves of a trip abroad, they would attempt to offset the financial impact by cutting back elsewhere.
