Bucharest's rising stock as a top concert venue attracts the stars

Bucharest appears to be becoming an increasingly popular concert destination for many of the world's top bands and rock stars since the country's accession into the European Union.

Earlier this year, British rockers the Rolling Stones announced their intention to play in the Lia Manoliu Stadium on July 17th 2007, while George Michael will play on May 31st 2007.

Furthermore, the B'estival, which runs from June 29th through to July 1st 2007, has attracted acts as diverse as Faithless, Pink, Marilyn Manson, Kasabian and Alice Cooper, set to appear near the city centre.

Earlier this week, the Chemical Brothers - who were due to play at Sala Polivalentina on May 25th 2007 - announced the postponement of their Bucharest concert.

A statement from the band read: "Due to unforeseen circumstances the Chemical Brothers have had to reschedule their ... show at Sala Polivalenta in Bucharest. The band apologise for the last minute change, the show has been rescheduled for Saturday October 20th."

Refunds can be obtained from ticket vendors, while the original tickets are still valid for the rescheduled concert.
