Budget airline expands in Manchester
Low-cost airline easyJet is to open up mainland Europe by expanding its presence at Manchester Airport.
The budget carrier will begin offering new flights to many tourist hotspots including Paphos in Cyprus and the Spanish resort of Malaga.
This represents a further improvement to the accessibility of these areas to consumers in the north-west of England and could boost their tourist markets.
In addition, the introduction of cheap and regular flights could encourage overseas property buyers to consider investing in these markets.
Andrew Cornish, managing director of Manchester Airport, commented: "The arrival of easyJet is great news for Manchester passengers."
David Osborne, general manager of easyJet in the UK, added that the airline was responding to high levels of demand from consumers living in the north-west.
This comes after the carrier revealed that it transported about 500,000 people overseas during the recent Easter holidays.
