Bulgaria 'set to attract more Britons'

Bulgaria is set to become an increasingly popular tourist destination among British holidaymakers, according to new estimates.

Speaking at this week's London Tourism Fair, tour operators from the eastern European country stated that more people from the UK were set to visit in the next few years.

Bulgaria was promoted as an all-year destination at the event, which could also help attract overseas property investors as well as tourists.

The Sofia Echo quoted Bulgarian National Radio as saying that winter was a highly profitable time for the holiday industry, partly because of its good skiing resorts.

Most of the holidaymakers visiting the country were said to be winter sports fans from the UK, many of whom were going to areas such as Bansko.

Earlier this week, the newspaper stated that local authorities in the popular ski resort were set to invest in a series of wide-ranging infrastructure improvements.
