Bulgarian property 'now as popular as US properties' for British investors
Bulgarian property has become "one of the main countries for foreign property investment" from UK nationals, according to the findings of a new report.
The Foreign Focus Index, compiled by foreign exchange firm Moneycorp, claims that as many Britons are now looking to buy properties in Bulgaria as in the United States.
While Spain has remained a popular destination for property investment, attracting more than a quarter of investors, some 12 per cent of British people looking to purchase property looked to Bulgaria in the last quarter of 2006, the publication revealed.
The authors of the report stated: "Brits buying abroad are looking to do so in Bulgaria, spending on average €90,000 (£61,000). Thanks to low cost flights, winter skiing and summer sun, properties in Bulgaria certainly look to be an attractive investment."
Furthermore, the trend of buying property abroad "shows no sign of abating", the report added.
Recently, Nia Jones, an international services manager at property conveyance firm Goldsmith Williams Overseas, revealed that the Bulgarian property market has become "much more stable" and mature.
