Buyers snap up Bulgarian holiday homes

Holiday homes in the Black Sea region of Bulgaria are continuing to attract more buyers, according to a new survey.

Research by Green Life Property Development found that the properties were highly popular among both British nationals and Russian buyers, reports the Focus news agency.

The latter group were said to be becoming increasingly prolific in purchasing Bulgarian holiday homes, as the proportion of English-speaking investors has fallen from 80 per cent to 20 per cent in the last year.

Bulgarian holiday homes were also said to be popular among people from Baltic nations such Belarus, Romania and Kazakhstan.

However, differences in buying trends were identified, as Britons were said to be keener on bargain properties, while Russia buyers were shown to be less conscious of price.

This comes after the Association of International Property Professionals credited the growth of budget air travel as a factor behind the popularity of eastern European markets among UK investors.
