Buying property 'eliminates need for package holidays'

Britons who own a property overseas rarely find the need to book package holidays as they can simply visit their second home, one industry expert has noted.

Sean Tipton, a spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents, made the comments when discussing the various merits and drawbacks of package holidays and do-it-yourself trips.

Hundreds of thousands of UK residents have purchased a second home in Spain, meaning that they are not reliant on deals from third parties, noted the analyst.

"And it is growing. It's not just Spain people are buying property in central and eastern Europe at the moment," he remarked.

"If you own your own property you do not need to book a package."

Earlier this week, Mark Stucklin of Spanishpropertyinsight.com claimed that opportunities still abound in Spain despite the large numbers of Britons who already own properties there.
