Cheap flights 'boost accessibility for families'

Low-cost airlines have made foreign travel easier and more accessible for many families, according to experts.

Holiday firm Take the Family stated that people who would previously have been unable to travel abroad are now able to see more of the world because of budget air carriers.

This was said to also have a positive effect on regional airports, as an increasing number of people were choosing to fly abroad from their local portal.

A spokesperson for Take the Family commented: "Shorter transfer times, both at home and at your destination, are most certainly preferred where young children are concerned."

The firm added that cheap flights had also made holidaymakers more flexible, as they were no longer restricted to going away for 7 or 14 days.

Earlier this month, the Association of British Travel Agents predicted an upturn in tourism during the Christmas season, potential increasing revenues for owners of rental properties abroad.
