Cooling markets 'still have investment opportunities'
Overseas property buyers can still find good investment opportunities in markets that have passed their peak growth period, an expert has stated.
Richard Exton from Barclays told the Sunday Herald that it was generally accepted that the rate of house price inflation in fast-growing markets would eventually slow down.
However, he said that these places still offered good prospects for savvy investors, as there was the potential for medium-term growth at the very least.
He commented: "It's the same with any market that is cooling down - for the prudent buyer there's an opportunity."
Mr Exton added that the overseas property market was still "buoyant", as the number of people investing abroad was likely to increase from 150,000 to 165,000 this year.
According to figures from the Office for National Statistics, a total of 848,000 British nationals now own a second home or land outside of the UK.
