Credit crunch will not deter holidaymakers
The credit crunch will not stop British consumers taking holidays abroad, according to an expert.
Ignacio Vasallo of the Turespana Spanish Tourist Board said destinations such as Spain will remain popular with holidaymakers, despite the ongoing economic crisis across the world.
Speaking to the Majorca Daily Bulletin, he said he expects the country's tourist industry to perform well in the next few months.
In fact, he is predicting that the overall number for 2008 will be about 2% higher than the amount recorded last year.
Mr Vasallo commented: "While the credit crunch may persuade British consumers to put off selling the house or buying a new car, it will not deter them from going on holiday this year."
The Post Office recently reassured holidaymakers that although the pound is at a record low against the euro, Spain is actually the cheapest of all the countries in the eurozone.
