Croatia attracts more British visitors
Croatia is becoming an increasingly popular holiday destination among Britons, tourism officials have revealed.
The Croatian National Tourist Office (CNTO) stated that the eastern European country attracted about 275,000 people from the UK last year.
This surge in popularity was largely attributed to positive media coverage surrounding the nation, as well as an increase in the number of tour operators offering holidays in places such as Dubrovnik.
A spokesperson for CNTO added that Croatia was also highly accessible from the UK, as carriers such as British Airways were now offering direct passage to the country from different airports.
He commented: "You can fly from Manchester, Birmingham, London airports, Dublin, Bristol - there are a lot of flights."
According to official figures, about 11 million holidaymakers chose to visit Croatia between January and November 2007 - 8% more than during the same period of the previous year.
