Croatia drives exports to increase GDP
Croatia's latest scheme, the Croatian Export Offensive, aims to change the structure of the existing export market and promote a more successful economy.
The project was announced last month by Prime Minister Ivo Sanader to a convention of Croatian exporters.
In order to increase GDP, the country plans to create more exporting companies, increasing present numbers by 25 per cent, from 11,000 to 13,800 in six export clusters.
Additionally, the Croatian government plans to consolidate production and make the industry more competitive in production of both materials and components.
The Ministry of the Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship will contribute approximately Ôé¼3.25 million to the scheme.
Reforms will be implemented through 29 new measures, of which 24 will be aimed at entrepreneurs.
The government hopes that this will contribute to improving the standard of living and raising salaries in Croatia.
