Croatian islands praised for their beauty and unique character
The islands that line Croatia's coast have been praised for their unique character and beautiful scenery by property investors and visitors in the area.
Attracting increasing numbers of tourists each year, the 50 or so inhabited islands off Croatia include a diverse selection of destinations, including Hvar, Korcula and Brac, the latter of which is notable for its pristine beach.
One couple, Frank Abernethy and his wife Isobel, from Saltford, Bath, chose to buy property in Hvar and said that they "fell in love" with the place after visiting.
They explained that the people are friendly and that the locals are not in the practice of charging tourists extortionate prices, while the individual identity of the area is also an attractive feature.
"It is so refreshing that there aren't English pubs or places offering English tea all over the place," said Mrs Abernethy.
Recently, holiday lettings firm Holiday Rentals revealed that Croatia is becoming an increasingly popular destination for weddings, in addition to Spain, France and Portugal.
