Cyprus praised by holiday home buyers
Two holiday home buyers from Scotland have spoken positively of their decision to invest in Cyprus.
Lorraine and Tommy Duncan recently bought a house in a village not far from Paphos for just over £100,000.
Speaking to the Sunday Mail, they said they chose this location as it offered a number of attractions.
Mrs Duncan commented: "The beaches and the landscape are beautiful, the people are friendly [and] the food is fantastic."
She added that the Mediterranean island enjoyed a warm climate for most of the year, as temperatures were in the 20s during a recent visit in November.
Furthermore, Ms Duncan described the similarities with the UK, such as having to drive on the left-hand side of the road, as a "huge bonus".
Although they have not yet taken possession of their property, the couple have said they are looking forward to staying there and possibly retiring there in the future.
According to the Office for National Statistics, 848,000 people from the UK now own land or property overseas.
