Cyprus prepares for euro entry

Authorities in Cyprus are currently issuing information to people on the island's forthcoming currency changeover.

The country will become a member of the euro at the beginning of next month, almost four years after it first joined the European Union.

According to the Financial Mirror, the Central Bank of Cyprus has now begun supplying currency to commercial banks and is carrying out an information campaign.

Meanwhile, the Cypriot ministry of finance is also said to be working hard on a publicity campaign in order to educate people on the island about the impact of the change.

The material has been written in such a way that it should ease any concerns among those who are worried.

For example, some locals have expressed fears that prices of local commodities will increase in the wake of the transition.

This has been denied by the Central Bank, which is reassuring people that the euro entry will not negatively affect anybody.
