Cyprus sees further economic growth
Cyprus continued to experience economic growth during 2007, new figures have revealed.
Government figures showed that the Mediterranean island's gross domestic product (GDP) went up by 4.4% on the previous 12-month period, reports Forbes.
The findings have prompted the Cypriot government to predict that the country's GDP will increase by a similar amount this year.
If these estimates are accurate, it means the island's economic growth rate will be above the European Union average.
The release of the figures comes shortly after Cyprus switched from the pound to the euro at the beginning of the year.
Although both currencies were in dual circulation for a brief period of time, the single European currency is now the only legal tender in the country.
