Disillusioned Britons 'buying properties abroad'
British homeowners are increasingly selling up because they do not like the way of life in the UK, an expert has claimed.
Peter Sellis from Foreign Currency Direct stated that a range of issues, both major and relatively minor, were prompting people to buy properties abroad instead.
One of the reasons he cited was anti-social behaviour, including swearing in public places and bad manners.
Mr Sellis added: "People are falling out of love with Britain.
"Anti-social behaviour and government policies are forcing Brits to look elsewhere."
The comments come after the Office for National Statistics stated that a record number of Britons were choosing to leave the UK and move to another country.
Figures from the organisation showed that between July 2006 and July 2007, 385,000 left Britain to live abroad permanently.
According to Barclays, the recent wet summer has also contributed to a surge of interest in buying property abroad, along with factors such as rising house prices in the UK.
