Dubai 'is bucking the global trend'
Dubai appears to be avoiding the economic downturn which is affecting many other parts of the world, a media outlet has stated.
According to BBC News, both investors and property developers in the emirate are continuing to do "brisk business".
This is despite the global financial crisis which has already seen the collapse of many leading financial institutions.
The news provider said investors are both optimistic about Dubai's future prospects and confident that it is a safe place to tie up their money.
"If it looks too good to be true, then it usually is," BBC News commented.
"But in Dubai, those who ignored that rule are now sitting pretty."
BBC News added that this marks a sharp contrast with many countries in the west, as they have seen their housing markets grind to a halt.
This comes after the UAE's central bank said the nation's financial institutions have had "virtually no" exposure to Lehman Brothers - the investment bank which collapsed last month.
