Eastern European markets 'increasingly popular'

Eastern European countries are becoming increasingly popular among overseas investors, according to experts.

Foreign Currencies Direct highlighted Bulgaria as an especially popular location, as it was delivering good value for money.

However, the firm urged buyers not to rush into purchasing a property in an emerging market without considering all the important issues.

Stephen Hughes, spokesperson for Foreign Currencies Direct, told This is Money that buyers had to spend some time in and around the area and speak to other investors who have bought there.

He commented: "It is important to look at how convenient a place is to get to and for developers building to good quality European standards."

According to HiFX, this summer has been a surge of interest in buying properties abroad, mainly as a result of the wet weather in the UK over recent months.
