Economic downturn 'drives Britons abroad'
Many people in the UK are moving abroad in order to escape various economic problems, an expert has said.
According to Sir Andrew Green, chairman of Migrationwatch UK, the slowdown in the economy is prompting more and more people to pack their bags and settle overseas.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said this trend is particularly apparent among skilled professionals such as doctors, many of whom are seeking employment elsewhere.
Sir Andrew added that the prospect of enjoying a better quality of life overseas has also fuelled this trend in recent years.
He commented: "People find the UK is getting more and more crowded and they see crime rates going up."
This comes after property analyst ShelterOffshore.com said Britain is currently experiencing a "mass exodus".
The website attributed this to a number of factors, such as concerns over crime and immigration, as well as the faltering housing market in the UK.
