End of summer 'to drive interest in buying abroad'
The end of the summer holidays could prompt more people to buy a foreign property, analysts have suggested.
According to CityWire, Britons who are returning from their trips abroad to wet and "depressing" conditions are likely to find the idea of buying abroad more tempting than usual.
This, it stated, is despite consumers facing financial constraints as a result of the downturn in the UK.
CityWire flagged up traditional European markets such as Spain as popular destinations, although many were said to be looking further afield to cheaper locations.
For example, eastern European countries were highlighted as ideal markets for those on a limited budget, as house prices tend to be lower than in more established alternatives.
However, the news provider added that if British consumers are going to "take the plunge" and invest overseas, they should make sure they get good professional advice.
This comes after currency specialist HiFX revealed that many British nationals want to leave their home because of ongoing problems in the domestic economy.
Figures showed that between January and June, the number of enquiries the group received from prospective migrants was 30% up on the first half of last year.
