EU membership 'would be good for Croatian property'

Entry into the European Union could have a major impact on Croatia's property market, experts have stated.

Independent analysts at Property Secrets stated that if the eastern European country achieved full membership, it would be likely to attract more people from other EU nations.

Furthermore, the organisation said that the amount of trade between Croatia and other member states would also increase if it was admitted.

The country is already growing in popularity among overseas property buyers, meaning that EU membership could possibly trigger a period of substantial economic growth.

Mark Tweddle, chief analyst at Property Secrets, commented: "You have got two markets [in Croatia].

"You have got the coast which is popular for the second home market and you have the cities."

This comes after a report by the EU stated that Croatia was making "substantial progress" with its negotiations on achieving full membership.
