EU representative for Bulgaria

A permanent member has been chosen to represent Bulgaria in the European Union (EU), according to reports.

The president appointed deputy interior minister Boyko Kotsev as a representative for the country, reports novinite.com.

Now, Bulgaria will have an official to defend and argue its interests to the EU, the publication said.

Mr Kostev is already in charge of EU integration, having been re-appointed to a cabinet post by the prime minister Sergey Stanishev.

He was also deputy foreign minister in Simeon Saxe-Coburg's cabinet.

Additionally, Georgi Parvanov, the president, appointed Rayko Raichev - head of the foreign minister's cabinet - on Tuesday as the country's ambassador to the United Nations.

In related Bulgaria news, it is still in its honeymoon period of construction following entry to the EU, the paper also reported.

Foreign investors have been pouring money into the country during this time, research carried out by the Economist contended.
