Europe opened up to Ulster investors

Overseas property investors from Northern Ireland are set to benefit from the introduction of new flights from Belfast.

Aer Lingus is currently in the process of rolling out services from the Ulster-based airport to destinations such as Barcelona.

Additional flights to places including Rome, Malaga, Faro and Budapest are also set to be introduced in February next year.

This has been described as a significant development for the air travel industry in Northern Ireland, with Aer Lingus describing the move as a "substantial commitment" to serving the province.

Dermot Mannion, chief executive of the airline, told the Belfast Telegraph: "It's an important long term investment."

This could significantly enhance the appeal of mainland Europe to people in Northern Ireland, including both holidaymakers and overseas property buyers.

Airlines including easyJet have also recently launched new services from Belfast, including routes to places such as Venice.
