Euros popular with Britons
This year's early Easter could lead to a record number of Britons purchasing euros, according to experts.
Marks & Spencer Money stated that holidaymakers from the UK spent about £18 billion in eurozone countries last year - the highest figure to date.
This has prompted the firm to suggest that this trend will continue, especially as Easter is unusually early this year.
In addition, it suggested the poor weather in the UK over the last few months may also prompt more people to venture overseas.
Fraser Millar, manager of M&S Travel Money, commented: "With the recent wintry weather at home and an early start on the spring-summer season, 2008 could be another record year for the euro."
He added that the euro currently accounts for more than half of all currency sales in the UK.
The comments will be welcomed by owners of rental accommodation in eurozone countries such as France and Italy, as they suggest that these places will attract more visitors this year.
