Eurostar boosts interest in French market
Interest in the French property market has been boosted by improvements to the Channel Tunnel rail link, according to experts.
Currency specialist HiFX stated that the number of enquiries it received about buying in France rose by 17% between August and September.
This was attributed to the forthcoming introduction of a high-speed rail service through the Channel Tunnel, which will result in reduced journey times for passengers.
The new transport link, which will call at the newly-renovated St Pancras station in London, will launch on November 14th.
As a result, many people were said to be considering relocating to France permanently while continuing to work in Britain.
Mark Bodega, director at HiFX, commented: "It is now increasingly feasible for buyers to have the best of both worlds, living permanently in what was a holiday home and commuting back to the UK when necessary."
He added that France was already a highly popular holiday home destination for Britons who enjoyed the country's more relaxed way of life.
