Expats advised to research new home

People who are planning to relocate to another country have been urged to plan their move well in advance.

According to Shelter Offshore, prospective expatriates should look at issues such as the quality of the buildings in their chosen location, as this will help them determine whether their property is up to scratch.

The online portal said that people also need to be aware that some developers may be hoping to take advantage of the inexperience of foreign nationals in their market.

Therefore, it has suggested that buyers research every aspect of their purchase before making any commitments.

Shelter Offshore commented: "To achieve a state of happiness with your overseas accommodation, a lot of research, caution and realistic expectations have to come in to play."

The website added that if people "get the basics right", they will have firm foundations in place to enjoy a positive future in their new home.

This comes after Paul Arthur of The Emigration Group told the Manchester Evening News that the desire to move abroad is also particularly strong in north-west England.
