Expats 'happy with decision to move'
Most British expatriates believe they have made the correct choice by setting up home overseas, new research has revealed.
A poll by UKForex showed that 80% of people who had left Britain were happy living overseas, whereas only 51.8% had been content at home, Your Mortgage reports.
Spain was found to be one of the most popular destinations among UK expats, as well as the most highly rated.
A total of 91 per cent of British nationals said they were happy with their new lives in the country, placing it ahead of countries such as Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
Chris Humphrey, general manager at UKForex, commented: "It's good to see that the majority of those who have already made the move are happy with their decision."
According to the Office for National Statistics, the popularity of living abroad is growing among people in the UK.
Recent figures from the organisation showed that during 2006, more than 200,000 UK citizens chose to leave the country and live overseas permanently.
