Expats miss British brands
Many expats are yearning for home comforts such as specific brands of food, according to a new poll.
Research by Foreign Currency Direct found that items such as Branston pickle and Heinz ketchup are among the things that Britons who live abroad miss most about the UK.
The survey also revealed that many people also hanker after traditional British pubs, beer and meals such as breakfasts and roast dinners.
As a result of the findings, Foreign Currency Direct has urged those who are thinking of setting up home overseas to research what items are available in their new place of residence.
Speaking to the Daily Express, chief executive Peter Ellis commented: "We would urge Britons looking to relocate to research the local amenities and resources of their chosen destination thoroughly."
He added that buying a property in another country could be an "excellent investment" that would allow people to enjoy a "better quality of life".
According to the Office for National Statistics, more than 200,000 British nationals moved abroad during 2006.
