Expats seek a taste of home
British expatriates are missing certain staples of the UK diet, according to a new study.
Research by Food from Britain found that the number of food and drink exports from the UK has gone up by nearly a tenth in the last year, reports the Telegraph.
This has been partly attributed to the growth in the number of British people who live overseas, as many are finding that they cannot live without certain brands and meals.
Marks & Spencer ready meals were found to be particularly sought-after among expats, along with PG Tips, Tetley Tea, Heinz baked beans and HP Sauce.
In addition, traditional English breakfasts were also said to be popular, hence the high demand for bacon and Wall's sausages.
This echoes the findings of a similar study by Foreign Currency Direct, which revealed that many expats also hanker after traditional British pubs and beer.
The results prompted chief executive Peter Ellis to suggest that Britons who are looking to relocate research the local amenities and resources of their chosen destination.
