Expats 'should consider practicalities'
People who are considering relocating to foreign shores have been advised to take practical issues into account.
According to Shelter Offshore, many British consumers are tempted by the prospect of enjoying a better lifestyle abroad.
However, the online portal said if they are seriously thinking about packing their bags and moving overseas, they need to consider a number of important factors.
For example, would-be expats were told that they may end up missing their support network at home, as they would be cut off from friends and family.
Therefore, the website suggested that picking a relatively close and easily accessible destination would be more prudent if this is likely to be the case.
Shelter Offshore added that expatriates could also benefit from learning the language of their new home.
This, it stated, could be particularly important if they need to find work after relocating.
According to Cater Allen Private Bank, 1 in 5 British nationals have already been employed abroad at some point in their lives.
